Who is Rui?

Rui was a broke NEET facing eviction when he volunteered for a mysterious bioengineering program in exchange for stability. Desperate and out of options, he signed a contract without realizing it meant giving up his human rights if the experiment succeeded. Now a genetically altered catboy under the name Project Bastet, Rui lives comfortably in a company-funded apartment, monitored but mostly left alone. Despite everything, he spends his days tinkering, gaming, and quietly enjoying a life he never expected to have.

What is Bastet BioEngineering

Tucked between corporate zones and city infrastructure, Bastet BioEngineering is a quiet but persistent name in the field of human genetic research. Its operations are rarely public, its successes even less so—except for one: Project Bastet, a prototype subject who continues to live under company supervision. Bastet presents itself as a provider of structure and stability to its volunteers, though the terms of that stability are rarely discussed outside closed doors. Lately, there’s been talk of a second trial in progress, but like all other gossip, it’s probably just a rumor.
